DOMINIQUE SERRAND (Director)
Paris native Dominique Serrand was artistic director and one of the co-founders of Theatre de la Jeune Lune (1978-2008). He studied at the Ecole Jacques Lecoq in Paris.  Mr. Serrand has acted, conceived, directed and designed (sets/ lights /video) for most Jeune Lune productions for over 30 years, concentrating primarily on directing. He has staged several operas. Mr. Serrand’s directing venues include Berkeley Repertory Theatre, La Jolla Playhouse, Yale Repertory Theatre, and the American Repertory Theatre, among others. His awards include: 2006-2007 Best Production (various press organizations) for The Miser in Boston, Houston, San Diego, Minneapolis, and San Francisco; a 2005 Tony Award for Best Regional Theater; a 2005 USA Artist Ford Foundation Fellowship; and a 2009 Bush Foundation Fellowship. Mr. Serrand has been knighted by the French government with the Order of Arts and Letters.

AFI AYANNA (Choir Lead Vocalist/Guitar Boy/)
Afi Ayanna is currently thrilled to be transforming herself with an MFA in Acting at UC Davis. She has been acting professionally in film and theatre in the Bay Area for the last decade. Some of Afi’s favorite endeavors are as a puppeteer for the Big Tadoo Puppet Crew; devising theatre for the non-profit Mystic Family Circus; numerous seasons with the Mendocino Theatre Company and San Francisco Shakespeare Festival; an award-winning team member of the SF 48-Hour Film Festival; and her featured role in the independent film Everyday Blackman available on Entertainment One DVD, BET and Centric TV this spring.

MATTHEW DUNIVAN (Convict)
Matthew Dunivan was last seen in UC Davis’ production of The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. He will be graduating this year with a degree in Dramatic Art. He is also a photographer with his own business:

CRYSTAL CHENEY
Crystal Cheney has worked at Diogenes Youth and Family Services since 2008.  She started as a Youth Worker, became a Case Manager and is now the Director of Services. She graduated with a Master’s Degree in English from UC Davis in 2008.

At UC Davis, she taught discussion sections on Interpretations of Genesis, Love and Desire in American Poetry, Medieval Literature and Children’s Literature. She later taught Creative Writing.
After graduating, she taught a book club for 9th and 10th graders designed to help ESL students with SATs and college preparation. After her teaching 9th and 10th graders, she knew she wanted to work with teenagers and immediately started looking for nonprofit opportunities where she could help at-risk teens. Diogenes has been that place for her since then.

Diogenes is committed to improving both individual lives and the community we live in.  Their philosophy is not to “rescue” troubled teens, but actively involve them in the process of solving their problems and conflicts, so that they will become responsible, contributing members of society. They have been recognized over the years by many organizations, including the
